Standing Committees

Selections Committee

• Shall consist of any three (3) members of the Council, one of which must be the Vice-President of Academic Affairs who shall serve as Chairperson.
• Shall call for applications for vacant positions, and will, for each of these positions, appoint a member of the L.S.A.

Elections Committee

• Shall consist of the President as Chief Returning Officer, and the Vice-President of Internal Affairs and Secretary as Deputy Returning Officers.
• Shall conduct by-elections for any unfilled positions
• Shall conduct all elections and referenda of the L.S.A.

Finance Committee

• Shall consist of the President, the Treasurer who shall be Chairperson, one member of the Council and two (2) members of the L.S.A.
• Shall oversee the accounting of L.S.A. finances.
• Shall be responsible for providing the Treasurer with an accounting of funds raised at the end of each academic term as per the Treasurer's guidelines.

CANS Committee

• Shall consist of up to six members of the L.S.A., with at least two (2) members from 2nd Year and the Vice-President of Academic Affairs to act as Chairperson
• Shall be responsible for providing the Treasurer with a complete financial statement at the end of each academic term as per the Treasurer's guidelines.
• Shall arrange for the collection, reproduction and distribution of "canned" notes for a nominal fee.

Canada Law Students Games Committee

• Shall consist of the Athletic Council of the L.S.A., comprising the Athletic Director, the Men's Athletic Representative, and the Women's Athletic Representative, with Chairperson to be determined at the first Committee meeting.
• Shall be responsible for the organizational, and operational initiatives required to advance participation of College participants in the Canada Student Law Games, in order to ensure national representation of the University of Saskatchewan College of Law at this event.

Alumni & Support Committee

• Shall consist of L.S.A members from 2nd and 3rd Year and the Vice-President of External Affairs to act as Chairperson. The Committee shall be struck at a fall meeting of the L.S.A. Council, with size to be determined on a yearly basis by the L.S.A. Council with Committee requirements.
• Shall be responsible for all fundraising efforts and initiatives for the L.S.A.
• Shall be responsible for providing the Treasurer with an accounting of funds raised at the end of each academic term as per the Treasurer's guidelines.
• Shall be responsible for the collection and compilation of graduating L.S.A. members' contact information.

Other Committees

Speakers Committee

• Shall consist of 2 L.S.A. members (from any year).  
• Members will assist in the selection of and pursuit of speakers to address the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law.

Admissions Committee

• Shall consist of one 3rd year L.S.A. student.  The student chosen must be in Saskatoon for May and June of 2007.
• Member will participate in the review of applications for first year students at the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law.

Curriculum Committee

• Shall consist of 2 student members (one student being the Vice President of Academic Affairs). We are currently seeking one L.S.A. member to fill the other position.
• Committee will participate discussion of the College of Law curriculum, including input regarding new courses to be offered at the College of Law.

Orientation Week Committee

• Shall consist of one 1st or 2nd year L.S.A. student.  The student chosen must be in Saskatoon for the summer of 2007.
• Member will assistant in the organization of first year orientation and orientation week.

Studies Committee

• Shall consist of 2 L.S.A. members (from any year). 
• Members will review current University of Saskatchewan, College of Law Regulations on grading policies and promotion standards. Members will also assists in the creation and maintenance of a system for distribution of student bursaries.
  

Recruitment Committee

• Shall consist of 3 L.S.A. members from any year.
• The Committee shall assist with student recruitment to the University of Saskatchewan College of Law.

Community Outreach Committee 

• Shall consist of as many L.S.A. members as express interest.
• This Committee shall foster philanthropic endeavors within the community on the part of the L.S.A. and its membership.  This year the mandate for the Committee is to establish and promote the Best Buddy's Program and similar philanthropic programs in the College of Law.
